GotTakeOut ("GTO," "we," "us," or "our") is a global food and travel platform available at gottakeout.com and via our mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and App.

We collect the following information when you use GotTakeOut:

Email address — when you create a GTO account via our email verification system
Username — the display name you choose during sign-up
Reviews and ratings — content you submit for restaurants
Photos — images you upload via the App
Saved restaurants — restaurants you save to your Dining Passport
Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting
Usage data — screens visited, features used, and session duration to improve our service
AI conversation data — questions asked to our GTO Concierge AI to improve recommendations

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your GTO account and Dining Passport
To display your reviews and photos to other users after editorial approval
To send email verification codes for sign-in (no passwords stored)
To personalise your restaurant recommendations via our AI Concierge
To award Dining Passport badges based on your activity
To notify you of review approvals and app updates
To improve our editorial content, AI recommendations, and app performance
To comply with legal obligations

3. How We Store Your Data

Your account data (email, username, badges) is stored securely on your device using local storage and on our WordPress-powered servers hosted by GoDaddy. We do not use third-party analytics platforms or advertising networks.

Reviews and photos you submit are stored in our WordPress database and reviewed by our editorial team before being made public.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

Editorial display — your username and approved reviews/photos are shown publicly within the GTO App and website
Service providers — our hosting provider (GoDaddy) processes data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements
Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights
Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may transfer to the new entity

5. AI Concierge Data

Our GTO Concierge is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI. When you send messages to the Concierge, your queries are processed via our secure server proxy. We do not share personally identifiable information with Anthropic. Conversation data may be used to improve our recommendation prompts.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Access — you can view your account information in the Profile section of the App
Deletion — you can delete your account by contacting us at policy@gottakeout.com
Reviews and photos — you can request removal of your content by contacting us
Email communications — you can opt out of non-essential emails at any time
Device permissions — you can revoke camera and photo library permissions via your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

GotTakeOut is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us at policy@gottakeout.com and we will promptly delete it.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. Email verification codes expire after 10 minutes. No passwords are stored — we use a secure email code system for authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Third-Party Links

Our App and website may contain links to restaurant websites and third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, via in-app notification. Continued use of GotTakeOut after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
